Rubén Aguilar Monteverde †
Director of the national banking institution in the 1970s and president of the Mexican Bankers' Association, positions from which he influenced the economic steering of the country in moments of crisis. Since his retirement in 1983, has served as a business advisor. During the past 20 years, philanthropy has been the center of his activities. Played a fundamental role in the creation of several organizations, including Fomento Cultural Banamex, in which he has occupied different positions and continues to collaborate. Currently forms part of the boards of several business groups including Alfa, Desc, Condumex and Banamex and is shareholding board member of eight other companies. Aguilar Monteverde also holds various positions in 19 civil society institutions.
Rubén Aguilar Valenzuela
Doctor in Social Sciences at the Universidad Iberoamericana, where he currently teaches in the same department. Former Coordinator of Social Communication and Spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic (2002/2006). Has taught courses in universities in Mexico and Latin America and has served as consultant to UNICEF, UNESCO, the UNDP, OAS, IDB, the World Bank, the European Union, and cooperation agencies from the United States, Germany, The Netherlands, and fifteen Latin American countries. Participated in the FMLN in El Salvador in the 1980s. Author of a dozen books.
Nadia Baram Larralde
Julieta Giménez Cacho García
After studying photography in Edinburgh, Scotland, Cacho Garcia worked as photographer for fifteen years, creating documentary photography projects and participating in various collective exhibitions. Was a founding member of the Mexican Council of Photography, where she served as Secretary of the Board of Directors. Studied two diploma courses in marketing, and served as Manager of Marketing and Publicity of the steel company Alta Resistencia. Participated as General Coordinator of the photography magazine PhotoVision in Madrid, Spain. Participated in CONACULTA as Director of Cultural Dissemination in the Coordination of International Affairs, and previously served as Assistant Director of Centro de la Imagen. Was responsible for the Head Office of the Franz Meyer Musuem, on decorative arts and design. Currently occupies the position of Technical Secretary of Programming and International Affairs at the UNAM Office of Cultural Dissemination.
Juan Manuel López Garduño
Undertook his professional studies at the National School of Anthropology and History and formed part of the first community museum projects in Mexico. Has dedicated the majority of his professional and business life to exploration and analysis of the use of new technologies in education as an approach to the social sciences. As a conceptual designer and executive producer of multimedia programs, Lopez Garduño participated in the development of five innovative solutions now implemented in thousands of primary school classrooms in Mexico. Also participated in various pioneering projects in knowledge dissemination through the design of interactive booths and educational materials for museums. More than fifteen years ago, Lopez Garduño founded Edumundo, company he currently directs.
Francisco Mata Rosas
Full-time professor and researcher at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), Cuajimalpa Campus. His photographic work has been published in some of the main newspapers and magazines in Canada, China, Spain, the United States, Japan, England, Italy, and Mexico. Has presented more than 70 individual shows and participated in more than 120 collective exhibitions in various countries. Mata Rosas has received the Acquisition Prize in the Biennial of Mexican Photography, the Award of Honor in the Bicentennial Contest of the French Revolution, the FONCA Young Creators Grant, the Third Mother Jones Fund for Documentary Photography, and the FONCA Promotion and Co-investment Award. Member of the National System of Creators of Art of Mexico. Nominated for the Henri Cartier Bresson Award in France by the Museum of Contemporary Photography of Chicago in the United States. Author of six photography books and illustrator or contributor to over 40 other books. Has given lectures and directed workshops at photography-related encounters in Argentina, Cuba, England, France, Mexico, Spain, and the United States, and has served on the panels of various national and international competitions.
Benjamín Mayer Foulkes
Psychoanalyst, researcher, and cultural promoter. Founding director of "17, Institute of Critical Studies," of "17, Consulting," and of the magazine "DIECISIETE" dedicated to issues of critical theory, psychoanalysis, and culture. His works on semiotics, philosophy, history, psychoanalysis, and art have been published in Spanish, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Turkish. Mayer Foulkes introduced the debate on photography by the blind in Mexico and is recognized as one of its international exponents. His recent editorial work includes the coordination of "Diálogo en la oscuridad," "Ateología, (Carlos Amorales: Vivir por fuera de la casa de uno)" and "El fotógrafo ciego. Evgen Bavcar en México." Author of the introductory essay to "Herejías" published in relation to the international exhibition of the same name by Pedro Meyer.
Patricia Mendoza
Received her undergraduate degree in Art History from the Universidad Iberoamericana and later worked as an independent curator in Mexico City. Served as coordinator of the Second Latin American Colloquium on Photography and of the Forum on Contemporary Art and the Meeting on Plastic Arts and Identity in Latin America. Founded and served as Director of the "Los Talleres" workshops in Coyoacan. Also served as Director of the Centro de la Imagen and the "Fotoseptiembre" Festival. Has worked as Coordinator of the Michoacan Art Forum, Director of Zul, Ediciones, and Director of the Graphic Arts Institute in Oaxaca. Has participated in panels for competitions sponsored by FONCA Mexico, Mother Jones and the Black Crows (USA), PhotoPress (Spain) and Hasselblad (Sweden).
Pablo Meyer Walerstein
Received his BS degree with honors in Product Design with a minor in Graphic Design from the Art Center College of Design of Pasadena, California, and later studied the AD-2 Program of High-Level Business Management at the IPADE in Mexico. Currently serves as General Director and founder of Pablo Meyer y Asociados, a design and communications company dedicated to the formulation of marketing and communications strategies and the development of corporate identity, packaging, and editorial projects. Also works as a professor in the undergraduate department of Industrial Design and Graphic Design at the Universidad Nuevo Mundo. Has published works in several magazines in Mexico and other countries and is a member of Quórum, the Board of Designers of Mexico, and a founding member of the Contemporary Circle of the Rufino Tamayo Museum, Olga and Rufino Tamayo Foundation, AC.
Pedro Meyer
In 2004 Pedro Meyer set himself to have the first simultaneous retrospective around the world. This project entitled "Herejías" ("Heresies"), includes more than 60 parallel exhibitions in 17 countries, a database which includes his lifework (more than 300,000 images and documents) and a book with the same title. This worldwide retrospective took place in 2008.
He published the first CD ROM with sound and image that was ever made in the world, entitled: "I Photograph to Remember". He is also the author of several books: "Tiempos de América" ("America's Times"), "Espejo de Espinas" ("Thorn Mirror"), "Los Cohetes Duraron Todo el día" ("Fireworks Lasted all Day") and "Verdades y ficciones: un viaje de la fotografía documental a la digital" ("Truths and Fictions: a journey from documentary to digital photography" (which was also presented in CD ROM) and "The Real and the True".
Pedro Meyer has imparted diverse workshops as well as more than 100 conferences about photography and new technologies, at important festivals, museums and academic institutions in Mexico and around the world. His work has been showed in more than 260 exhibitions in museums and galleries worldwide and is an important part of various collections.
He received the prestigious Guggenheim grant in 1987, Premio Internazionale di Cultura Citta di Anghiari in 1985 and in 1993 he was granted with the National Endowment for the Arts along with Jonathan Green and the California Museum of Photography in Riverside. He has also received several awards at Mexican Photography biennial and the first grant to a web project from the Rockefeller Foundation.
In 2007 Pedro Meyer created Pedro Meyer Foundation to promote photographic education and serve as an alternative to public cultural institutions in Mexico.
Bruno J. Newman Flores
Received his BA in Media Studies from the Universidad Iberoamericana where he later taught for nine years and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees. After 15 years of professional experience in the sphere of Media Studies and Human Resource Administration, since 1980, he has been the co-Director of Zimat Consultants. Member of the boards of several companies, cultural and philanthropic institutions, and professional associations. Was founding president of AMCO, SIGNUM, and PRO R.P. Asociación Mexicana de Agencias Profesionales de Relaciones Públicas, A.C. Currently president of IBBY México, an association that promotes reading among children and youth in Mexico. Author of several specialized books and articles. Has been invited to address diverse important national and international forums and received several awards for his professional and philanthropic work.
Fernando Ondarza Villar
Since studying Architecture at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Ondarza Villar has completed diverse construction projects in a professional career spanning 30 years. Ondarza Villar has also worked in the museographic sphere through the design and elaboration of several exhibits. Since 2001, he has served as General Director of Lunwerg Editors, where he has been responsible for various editorial projects. Has also collaborated with exhibits and the respective catalogues for the "Rejas del Chapultepec" project in Mexico City and exhibits at other museums and cultural centers. Founding partner of the Tonaltepec Global S.C. Company specializing in the production of publications, cultural programs for radio and television, and the curatorship and museography of exhibits.

Rogelio Villarreal
Rogelio Villarreal Macías was born in Torreon, Coahuila on September 16, 1956. He studied journalism at UNAM and photography at the Escuela Activa de Fotografía. He was director of counter-culture landmark publications such as "La Regla Rota" (The broken ruler) and "La Pus Moderna" (Pus-Modern). He is the author of Photography, Art and Publicity, Aspects of Photography in Mexico, Forty and 20, Bukowski's Dilemma, and Cultural Journalism at the time of globaphobia. His work has also been published in various anthologies and he is a regular collaborator to many cultural publications both in Mexico and abroad. His latest book, "Counter-Culture Sensational" has recently been released by Ediciones sin Nombre in 2007. He is currntly editorial director of online publication Replicante.
