| Who Would Like a Book? Workshop on Uploading Electronic Publications

In this workshop, participants will work on personal projects designed to be published in an e-book. Participants will be able to submit material ranging from their own photographic work to a family album. All ideas will be developed on the basis of collective discussions, personalized consultations and practice of the concepts dealt with in the classroom. We will examine some examples of editorial projects undertaken throughout the history of photography. We will review some of the theories of montage, by looking at examples from the cinema and books, We will discuss the concept of uploading as more of a creative than a technical process. Participants will learn about the need to handle the principles of graphic design to arrange and highlight the elements comprising the publication.
General Objective
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to undertake an e-publication project.
Specific objectives
- Learn about the historical background to publication, uploading and design
- Discover the differences between electronic and paper publishing
- Use digital tools for on-line publishing
- Discover the possibilities of incorporating multimedia features into books
- Acquire the basic tools of graphic design, typography, photographic edition, narrative and montage
Method
This workship is divided into two modules. The first establishes the theoretical, practical and procedural bases and explains the tools available for e-publications. The second module is practical and focuses on the production of an e-work by each participant.
1st module: The group will discover the proposals or ideas that each participant wishes to develop and attempt to answer the following questions: What do I want to say? Who am I addressing_ Is there a story? Is the visual narrative enough? It is hoped that these sessions will enrich each project.
The following issues will be discussed at collective sessions through readings, conferences and presentations.
